Where the hell is Matt?

June 25th, 2008 Betchay Posted in Tour Korea, Youtube/UCC 3 Comments »

I sent my husband a Youtube video that made him laugh. It’s about Matt, a world traveler. I remember when he invited Seoulites in Facebook to join him in his dance early this year. He announced the venue to be Namdaemun (South Gate) so everybody were there except for him, who went to Dongdaemun (East Gate)!

Read about Matt in Seoul.

Anyway, I really envy Matt for doing something extraordinary (and thank you for sharing). I guess it’s everybody’s dream to travel the world, meet different people, experience other cultures and dance!

The song is really nice. It’s available for download through Amazon. My favorite scenes are the ones in Papua New Guinea and India.

Korean War

June 25th, 2008 Betchay Posted in Events/Festivals/Holidays, Youtube/UCC No Comments »

Today, June 25, is the 58th anniversary of the beginning of the Korean War. The Korean peninsula is still divided - North and South. If not for those brave soldiers who fought against the advancing North Koreans, I might not be here.

Which countries helped South Korea during the Korean War? Click here for answers.

Korean War Memorial (Washington DC)

I took the picture above on our visit to Washington DC’s Korean War Veterans Memorial in 2006. The inscription near the statue reads “OUR NATION HONORS HER SONS AND DAUGHTERS WHO ANSWERED THE CALL TO DEFEND A COUNTRY THEY NEVER KNEW AND A PEOPLE THEY NEVER MET”

Charice Pempengco (체리스 펨핀코) on Oprah!

May 13th, 2008 Betchay Posted in Pinoy Celebrities, Youtube/UCC 7 Comments »

I missed Charice’s performance on Oprah. AFN (Armed Forces Network) was pulled out from our channel list two weeks ago. There are a few English channels on Korean television. We used to have CNN, Arirang and AFN but they’re all gone now. I just have to be contented with OnStyle, Discovery and FoxTV. Anyway, TG that the video is available on Oprah’s website and of course, Youtube…

The Sho-Al game (or Kim Beom)

April 30th, 2008 Betchay Posted in CF/Ads, Hallyu, K Actors, Youtube/UCC 4 Comments »

My son’s most favorite commercial nowadays (replacing Jang Dong Gun’s) is the Sho-Al game featuring the cutie Kim Beom (in his pink shirt). He just couldn’t get enough of that CF that we had to watch it over and over for almost an hour last night. He kept on laughing at the scene where Kim Beom sorta made a mistake.

Kim Beom debuted in 2006. He was in the MBC produced High Kick and Rude Woman. He was also introduced in the movie Hellcats early this year. Later, we’ll see him in the upcoming Song Seung Hun comeback drama East of Eden.

Want to see more of Kim Beom’s cuteness? You should visit his Cyworld page. Or see tons of images on this Daum page.

Pink Ribbon Marathon (with Jang Dong Gun and Kim Tae Hee)

April 24th, 2008 Betchay Posted in Hallyu, Jang Dong Gun, Youtube/UCC 2 Comments »

Jang Dong Gun - Kim Tae Hee at the Pink Ribbon Marathon

Jang Dong Gun and Kim Tae Hee were at the Pink Ribbon Marathon in Busan City last April 20th. That day, my husband also joined a marathon called Inwangsan for the benefit of scholars in Jongro district. The former is for breast cancer research.

Busan City is a 5 hour drive south of Seoul. I’ve been there once in May 2004, four years ago. It’s the second biggest city in South Korea. HERA, the cosmetics company, sponsored the event. Jang Dong Gun and Kim Tae Hee are endorsers of the said brand that’s why their appearance. About 5,600 men and women joined the marathon.

I found exactly twenty-eight pictures of the said event in this blog from Daum. The page loads slowly because of the pictures so you need to be patient. If you want to save the pictures, better use Opera or Firefox.
