My friend Jasmine called me last Thursday asking if I knew a talent agency in the Philippines that could provide a good-looking Filipina to be cast in a movie and an ad. I was very busy that time that I almost forgot about it. She posted the requirements in her blog. I started blogging using a free blog host in 2002. Unfortunately, the blog host closed and I wasn’t able to save my posts. Then in late 2003, I started another blog in a bigger blog host but because I want greater control of my blog, I decided to use Wordpress and a paid webhosting that allows multiple domain hosting.

I didn’t know much about webhosting back in 2004. I spent several hours reading webhosting tutorials online. That helped me a lot in undertanding paid hosting services. Having your own blog hosted isn’t that difficult after all. Those tutorials online will guide you how to get started. It’s also fun checking the domain names best suited for a blog.

Four years later, I still sometimes read webhosting articles. I already have three blogs and they’re all hosted on the same server with their own domain names. I’m planning to have one more in the future when time permits

My web hosting subscription will end this month and I’m still thinking whether I’m going to renew with my current web host or find the best web hosting at the cheapest price.

My Wordpress blog is hosted on a paid web hosting. I prefer it this way so I have full control of everything. I don’t like the rules that comes with free web hosting services. What I need is a multiple domain hosting since I am running three blogs.

I need to be sure that my blogs are up at least 99.9% of the time. I had experienced not being able to access my own blog before! I think that was two years ago and that same month I transferred web hosts three times! That was such a headache!

My mother will celebrate her 76th birthday on August 4. She was 42 when she gave birth to me. That’s two weeks from now and I haven’t decided on what to give her. I thought that I’ll send her a digital frame before but when I told her about it, she thought she might not be able to know how to use it. So now I’m thinking of getting her something more traditional, like gift baskets.

I’m thinking of getting my mother one of those spa gift baskets since I think she deserves some pampering. I’m sure she’ll love the healing spa slippers (pictured). GiftTree is now one of my favorite sites.

I learned the value of savings at a young age. In fact, I remember opening my first bank account on my seventh birthday and my first deposit was barely a dollar. Now that I have my own family and I’m in my 30s, it’s even more important for us to save. I don’t want to see myself working for a living when I’m 70! Of course, the best place to save our money is in the bank. We can earn with the interest and our money is protected by insurance.

Which are the best savings accounts? A good source to find out the best rates offered by banks in the United States is eMoneyCentral.com. They have a list of the latest rates on savings account, checking account, and certificate of time deposit. Clicking on the savings accounts rates will show a table with the highest yielding accounts and reviews from account holders. There is also information on the minimum amount needed to open an account and the minimum amount for your money to earn interest. I really like this part since I won’t need to bother the banks asking for this information and you get a list of banks, not just one bank. Saves you time doesn’t it?

I love freebies and I often write about free things. Here’s another one — Free Forum Hosting. I found a website I’d like to share with you. It’s called “The Frisky” (a daily romp on the sexy side) and I stumbled on it while looking for nice themes. This site caters to the single men and women out there, but I enjoyed reading their articles eventhough I’m married. The overall look of the site reminds me of orange, chocolate and wine and I really can’t explain why.

The Frisky specializes on Relationship Advice but it also has sections on other interesting topics like Celebs, Food & Travel, Health & Beauty, News & Culture. One topic that I know would interest both the singles and attached is the Sex Advice Column. Nope, I don’t really need an advice on that aspect of my life but I just enjoyed reading it. This site sort of reminds me of one of my favorite magazines, only thing different is it’s online.

Men and women alike should check out the section Hot Guys. The former can get a pointer or two on what we women consider as hot or not. The latter can drool over the hot guys featured on the page. LOL
