If you’re a Filipino and you have a Korean fiance/fiancee, you are required to attend CFO’s Korea Cultural Orientation Seminar. It’s a two-day program that introduces Korean culture and what to expect being married to a Korean.
If I remember correctly, the two counselors also conducted person-to-person interview with the ladies on the second day of the two-day seminar. That’s when they would decide whether to give the certificate or not. The certificate is necessary before leaving the country on an F-2 visa. The immigration officials at the airport checked mine before I left.
The Philippine Embassy has posted the schedule of the seminars for this year. You can check it through their News & Event section with the title Schedule of CFO’s Korea Cultural Orientation Seminar.
I don’t really remember what I learned through that seminar. I had to work at night and I had to attend the seminar during the day. I wonder if they said anything about the difficulty of starting a sales career here if you can’t speak Korean.
