Shocking! I’m currently watching the news on MBN! Park Yong Ha committed suicide. He is the other actor in the successful Korean drama “Winter Sonata”. I actually liked him more than Bae Yong Joon in that drama.
Park Yong Ha was found dead at his home in Nonhyeon-dong with a phone charger cord tied around his neck at around 530AM today, June 30th. Police is still investigating the circumstances of his death.
There is a speculation that Park Yong Ha was apparently depressed. His father has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and he had been taking care of him.
Park Yong Ha’s remains lies at the St. Mary’s Funeral Home in Gangnam. This is the third suicide this year of a Korean celebrity after Choi Jin Yeong (topstar Choi Jin Shil’s brother) and supermodel Kim Daul.

What?!? This is sad news.
A sad news to all his fans & supporters, indeed!!! I’ve watched all of Park Yong Ha’s dramas & liked how he portrayed his characters’ roles so well…so it took me 3 times to read the news before it actually sank in, that he committed suicide at the height of his awesome Hallyu career!!!
Why are there a lot of successful or popular people who actually suffer from deep depression? You know, I’ve heard a lot of news about popular people who committed suicide despite their success. This makes me realize more that people can’t just live with wealth, popularity and power. Also, it makes me feel that I am lucky even if I am living with simple life.
Now, winter sonata will look more sad than before

This is really surprising! I was shocked when I learned about this because I was just reading about his new drama yesterday. Today is Pres. Noynoy Aquino’s inauguration and I am supposed to be happy and hopeful for the new administration but this occupied my mind up until now.
No words can express the grief that his family must be feeling right now. RIP Park Yong Ha.
Yup, it was really surprising since he was also expected to do a concert tour in Japan – where he is even more popular.

for real?! i was just watching clips of winter sonata on youtube and i saw these comments about him committing suicide! that’s so sad… bakit kaya maraming suicide incidents sa mga korean celebrities? kakatakot.. baka bigla na lang mabalitaan ko na yung idol ko nag-suicide na rin..
i am sad but i am also mad! this is sending a wrong signal to kwave fans elsewhere . suicide is painless, it brings so many changes…(lyrics to an old song). is there a culture of suice in korea? his fans might get the idea that it is ok to cop out, it is ok to leave all problems by suicide. shouldn’t authorities step in and make an indepth studies on why suicide seem to be happening every so often in the korea. didn’t a former president kill himself last year when he was to be investigated for accusations of corruption etc. betchay, i am sure you won’t let your son have wrong values. i am sure you’ll teach him to go on living and face and beat life’s hurdles along the way. at least tayong mga pinoy marunong tumawa sa problema. i am so mad because his death was so senseless and meaningless.
Shut up troll!! you’re obviously not a fan and you should not say those things if you’re a decent human being. People who are depressed don’t “think about others” or consequences. Senseless people like you’re the reason why depression gets worse with these type of patients.
i understand koreans do not know how to handle depression, and one and last option for them is to end it.sad to hear this news.

my heart si istill aching until now, it just my aunt told me last night “Hey one of your fav korean actor commited suide” i said “who?” and she said ” all i know is you like him your always watching him!”,,, i asked my friend she said “”si raymond”" and I’m just like “HA?!” i felt so static… i cant believe it, until i saw it here..omg..so sad… RIP, I’ll remember you forever here in my heart.

Hello Betchang, I’m so shock and sad about this news. Winter Sonata was my first introduction to korean drama. Park Yong Ha was good on that drama …and he’s one of the actors that made that drama popular. May he rest in peace.

RIP Park Yong Ha… it’s really sad when I hear these stories, and as much as I view ppl who commit suicide negatively, I also have compassion because they usually are dealing with tough life situations… in his case, his father had terminal cancer, which I never experienced before. I hope he finds peace.

i’m always remembering Park Yong ha this past few weeks… im always watching his burial ceremony for the past week, and my heart is still aching, and but also reminding me to always treasure life and be strong for whatever circumstances I may face.

If you realize the fact that he is just fresh from finishing the voice-over act of Winter Sonata anime character Kim Sang-hyuk the year before his death, the reason for his death become all crystal-clear. Winter Sonata is too realistic, so much so even in real life, he fell in love with Choi Ji-Woo, and she preferred BJY too. He became depressed and died, to show the world how Winter Sonata should have ended.
