1st Shop of Coffee Prince: canned coffee

1st Shop of Coffee Prince

Do you remember the Korean TV drama “The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince” starring Yoon Eun Hye and Gong Yoo? Well, it’s now available in cans – the coffee I mean. Koreans are heavy coffee drinkers – at least with the instant variety. There are various canned coffee brands here including a few from the coffee shops: Starbucks, Tom N’ Toms and Holly’s (that has Kim Nam Gil or “Bidam” as their CF model). My favorite though is Doutour, previously endorsed by Boys Over Flowers’ Gu Hye Sun and now has Song Hye Gyo in their CFs.

I got the “1st shop of Coffee Prince” canned coffee last Friday at Family Mart. The seller said it’s an exclusive of the convenience store chain – so I guess it isn’t available in other stores. It’s available in two flavors – Americano and Caramel Mocha Latte. I actually forgot how much it was but it’s definitely not more than 1,000 won. The caramel mocha latte has 95 calories.

And the taste? Let’s just say it’s not something I’d buy again.

Hi Ms.Betchay,
We were in Seoul, two weeks ago and stayed there for a week. We did visit The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince set/cafe..I think it is somewhere near Hongik stn. And the drinks are just way too overpriced..we should have just been satisfied taking pictures outside but then again how many times do we visit Seoul and a 7,000 KRW cup of hot lemonade is definitely worth it ;) btw, yes I did fell in love with Seoul though it wasn’t a first love kind of thing..it is something like Seoul grows on you..and when you have to say goodbye..you kinda get melancholic and sad all over and your already thinking of coming back :)

We went to the 1st shop of coffee prince after paying a visit at the Four Seasons House & meeting the director of Winter Sonata. They were so friendly & accomodating considering the fact that they were closed when we arrived but the director opened it for us. Going back to the coffee shop…we started taking pictures infront of the said shop when a staff went outside & asked us in a rude manner “are u here for coffee?” we answered with a “yes” but he immediately directed us towards a dirty table wherein there were clean tables available for customers. we asked him if we can transfer to another table but he answered “NO” again in a rude manner. my friend got really really mad that she just walked-out….

@ Lay Kim – maybe that rude staff is also the suplado staff we encountered last December when we visited Coffee Prince. The shop was closed that day for a private function so we just took pictures outside. We asked if we could go inside & if it’s possible to take pictures since the private event has not started yet. but he snubbed us & just left hehe. we’ll see this june if we’ll be able to go inside the shop when we visit again hehe

as far as liking coffees in can, i dunno why i can’t seem to like the taste. i’d rather have a nescafe 3-n-1 anyday ;)

I’d probably buy some when we go to Seoul on July…not to drink it(I’m not a coffee drinker, anyway!!!),..but as a “keepsake” or souvenir, cuz it was Coffee Prince that turned me into a KDrama Addict 3 years ago!!!

The most delicious coffee that i’ve tasted so far (in Korea) is French Cafe. Rich in flavor, though it is not advertised much with celebrities.
