Happy Easter

by Betchay on April 4, 2010

We don’t have a “holy week” here in Korea; so we don’t have a long vacation unlike in the Philippines. Only a third of this country’s population is Catholic or Christian. We do celebrate two religious events every year though – Buddha’s Birthday which falls on May 21 this year and Christmas Day.

Last Friday, my son’s day care center gave each kid a cute paper basket with two eggs. The “wonjangnim” or the school head also invited us to come to the Easter party at their church. These days, eggs aren’t painted anymore. They are covered with colorful plastic like this one:

Yup, the eggs in Korea are brown and not white. I’ve read that there isn’t any nutritional difference between the two eggs. A hard-boiled egg has only 78 calories, which is great if you’re on a weight management program like bsn atro-phex.

I miss the Easter events at the Sta. Maria Church in Angeles City. I wonder if they still have the yearly Easter egg-hunting contests done in the morning and afternoon of Easter day. It was so much fun!

Hi dearie. I’m here to drop some love on your blog,
The company where I work for doesn’t care about holidays so yeah, I did work during the Holy Week. Those eggs are cute! I thought brown eggs are healthier than white eggs?

Lots of love,
