Vietnam Travel Guide

by Betchay on November 10, 2009

saigon Last Friday morning, I attended the “2009 Metropolitan Seoul Hagwon Teachers Conference.” It was a three-hour talk about hagwon. Oops, I don’t remember what they talked about since I slept during the first and the last hour. I listened during the second hour because the topic was about “Having a Happy Contented Life” and the speaker made us do a lot of stretching exercise. By the way, the talk was all in Korean.

After the conference, I walked to Daehakro (University Avenue) to have lunch at the Vietnamese noodle restaurant we often frequented when I was pregnant. What could be a better choice for lunch on a cool autumn day than a bowl of steaming pho!

It is primarily because of the food that I’d like to go to Vietnam someday, but I’d also like to see the wonders of Saigon. Why Saigon? I don’t know much about Vietnam but I know that Lea Salonga starred in a play called “Miss Saigon.” :)

If you’re like me who’d like to travel to Vietnam but doesn’t know much about the country, you might want to visit websites that could help you learn the ins and outs of Saigon and other cities too.

I would love to see the old buildings of Vietnam as well as the new ones. Of course, I’d also like to see its natural wonders. By the way, do you know that Busan (the second largest city in South Korea) is a sister city of Saigon?

Ms Betchay, I’ve been craving for some “PHO”, where can I find this Vietnamese restaurant? If I’m taking a subway, coming from Ichon, how do I get there?

Hi ^^
I am a “Pho” lover too..
Been to Vietnam twice..
and Saigon is the motorcycle city of the world.. like thousands of motorcycles on the road.. no traffic rules lol.. it’s a single lane road.. salubungan ang mga sasakyan.. and bus moves in a snale-pace due to motorcycles..

Reasons to visit Saigon:

Delicious Pho by the road. It cost 2000 won.. cheaper than ramyeon ^^
9 USD/night accomodation.
The War Museum. It makes you visualize the Vietnam war
Cheap and yummy coffee.
You can rent a motorcycle for 5 hours and it only cost you 6000 won.. you can hang around the city.. exploring Saigon at night is really nice..
From Saigon you can go to Cambodia by bus for only 7 USD..
Dont miss Angkor wat..

Hanoi, the northern part of Vietnam is also good, where the famous Halong Bay is located, it has a breath-taking view..really fascinating…
Vietnamese are very friendly..

Philippine passport holder need not to aquire a visa to get to Vietnam..
Cebupacific flies to Saigon..

My flight to Saigon cost only 6000 pesos, two-way ticket , and my friend got 4000 pesos two-way ticket.. tyagaan sa pag aabang ng promo.. check: cebupacificair.com

Fly to Hanoi and take a bus down Saigon..and if you have enough money and time.. visit Cambodia too..by bus.. it is just next to Vietnam..
