Moon Geun Yeong, the philanthropist

by Betchay on April 24, 2009

moongeunyeong.jpg She was once dubbed as the country’s little sister. (Is it Kim Yuna now?) She isn’t only a talented actress and a smart girl (a student of Sungkyungkwan University!). She is also a top philanthropist. And she’s so young!

I wasn’t really surprised when I read the news that she will donate a building to a charitable organization. Last year, she had been named as the top donor of Korea’s Community Chest for having donated more than $600,000 for five years. However, a lot of envious netizens who couldn’t do anything better criticized that she’s a communist supporter just for being the granddaughter of a pro-communist guerilla during and after the Korean War. Tsk, tsk, some people would really rather see a glass half-empty than half-full. (I remember Admiral Lee Sun Shin who was at first denied to serve the country because his grandfather was branded as a traitor.)

Moon Geun Yeong is a good role model of her generation.

I like Moon Geun Yeong. I enjoyed watching her in both My Little Bride and Innocent Steps (She was convincing as a sports dance competitor). It’s good to know that she has her heart on the right place.
