One of the things that Sara (host of “Soul of Asia” on tbs eFM) talked about during the pre-broadcast interview was how important a person’s appearance is in Korea. I’ve always been a simple dresser and I could count with my fingers the number of times I wore make-up in the 28 years that I spent living in my home country! Let’s just say that there are just some things that aren’t really important in my life. However, things changed when I came here where you are judged by your appearance.
Before my husband left for a business trip this morning, he asked if there’s something he could buy for me. The first thing that came into my mind is of course, cosmetics! There are a lot of cosmetic brands here but the problem is it’s a little bit difficult to find the right colors for my skin. Sometimes, foundations that I buy here make me look ashen when I really want to enhance my natural color.
There are also a limited number of foreign brands here. I remember reading a friend’s blog entry wherein she’s looking for a particular brand of foundation. I just thought that she’d be really lucky to find the brand here. At least in my case, I could easily get my favorite Chanel Allure lipstick here – No. 7!
