Ten Koreans die in a road accident in Bolinao

by Betchay on August 27, 2008

I am watching the news and they just reported that, according to AP news, ten Koreans died in a bus accident in Bolinao, Pangasinan in the Philippines.

The Philippine Inquirer has posted the news on their website about 20 minutes ago:

10 Koreans die in Pangasinan road accident

Ten Korean nationals died when the van they were riding in crashed into the wall of a building along the highway of the village of Sampaloc in this town on Wednesday.

my husband and i were talking over the phone last night and he told me about this accident as it was being relayed on the news.. so saddening… it is said that one of the victims is really young. the locals still tried to rush the victims to the nearest hospital but no one survived…

Let your Perpetual Light shine upon them Lord, and may they rest in peace…

I was terribly shocked hearing this accident! Me and my office staff were actually in one of Bolinao resort located in Ilog Malino (Paradise Resort. There were 3 separate groups of Koreans in the same resort. One group even had a singing sprit with us on the night of August 24 (Sunday). They were so happy. One group was I think an entire family with young boys and girls.

Can’t even decide now to say, ” Sana hindi sila yun…”… because it wud be unfair to those Koreans who were not with us!

These deaths are statistically expected from their rising numbers in the Philippines. But it’s really tragic, this one…
Ms. Betchay sabi po van accident. Did you just write “bus”, or did you get it from AP?

I was on vacation in my home town (Bani) before Bolinao last thursday when I heard the news from the folks. It is sad, I suggest that everyone should take extra care when driving along provicial roads, yes not much vehicles, but they are slippery when wet and not much light during evenings.

Take care!

^^ my sister-in-law is from Bani

road accidents also happen a lot in korea… (one of the highest among OECD) but a van full of koreans in an accident and all passengers dead is news because it happened in another country.
