Pinoy version of “My Name is Kim Sam Soon”

Guess where I read about the “My Name is Kim Sam Soon” remake? Korean news portal, of course. I got the picture below from there too.

The TV show starring Regine Velasquez and Mark Anthony Fernandez first aired on June 30, last Monday. I haven’t watch an episode of it but I’ve been updated with “My Girl” (Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson) on Youtube.

I’m surprised that I enjoy watching the Philippine remake of “My Girl”, just a little annoyed by the girl named “Annika”. It must be her voice or the way she talks. I like the main leads of the drama but the cinematography turns me OFF. It really is a Philippine remake, because it reminded me so much of how they make telenovelas or dramas in the Philippines. Know what I mean?

Anyway, reports on Korean online news portals said that the Kim Chiu-Gerald Anderson version of “My Girl” is now the nation’s “national drama” and is the topic of conversation anywhere, the ratings is painting a different picture though. I also read a thread on the two starlets and people criticizing Kim for being “fat” based on her pictures. She’s nowhere near “fat” and might even be suspected of being “anorexic” if they don’t know any better.

Expectations are high for the GMA-produced (in the article, it was mentioned that ABS-CBN is state-owned) “My Name is Kim Sam Soon.” Regine Velasquez, considered as “Asia’s Songbird” is a crowd drawer and a box-office “queen”. Will she give justice to the role originally done by popular Korean star Kim Seon A (Kim Sun Ah)? Gotta search Youtube πŸ™‚

UPDATE: Found it on Youtube! I like the “look” and “feel” of this drama. It seems like they spent money on it, production wise. Acting is also good and it’s nice to see Mark Anthony Fernandez once again. He used to be my favorite among the Gwapings almost two decades ago. And Wendell Ramos is so handsome (and I bet he smells nice too)!

    Why do I always hear from girls that Wendell smells nice? hahaha. I haven’t seen the first episode of KSS Remake but I gathered it was good.

    Re my post on English teaching, yeah, you’ve made good points. Teaching in Korea has been too commercialized that whoever pasty white can just apply in any hagwon, experience and skills notwithstanding. Teaching is a profession and it demands formal training, if not just experience. I think you could be a good teacher Ms. Betchay! ^^;

    The topic deserves a discourse on its own. I’ll just build my ideas on that when I find time and data.

    I love the Korean Kim Sam Soon and I was really surprised with the Pinoy remake – I enjoyed it! Production wise as well as the acting was good..

    As for My girl, I’m watching it but I’m not hooked on it. Acting of the male lead is mediocre at its best and you’re right the annika girl has a really irritating voice..

    lol @ “smells nice”

    The picture is creepy, lol. But never judge a book by its cover…

    Glad you liked it, though. Let us know if you like it better than the original (which I never finished because it didn’t hold my interest).

    With all due respect Miju, I think the show was great. I’m done watching the series and find it very nice. Kudos to the cast and crew of the show. Just dont love the last part though, it could have been a lot nicer if minus the “KIDNAPPING” scene.

    creia que solo en mexico se les habia secado el cerebro a los productores de novelas, pero creo que es un mal del mundo, trate de ver un pisodio en youtube pero no aguante ni 5 minutos, la verdad que es una copia demasiado mala, es un insulto para los fans de la serie original, y para los actores, todo es bizarro e insipido en el refrito.
