Apartment mailbox
It’s been a habit to collect mail everyday from our mailbox downstairs, at the building’s second floor. Why second floor? There are only three units on the first floor since we live on a hill. There are 15 units on each floor of our almost two decade old building. (Our building will be up for remodelling in 5 years or so).
Here’s how the mailboxes at our building looks like.
At our home in the Philippines, we don’t have a mail box. It would be unsafe to put one outside the gates of our house (the mails are not even safe at the post office!) since we are on a busy street with lots of pedestrians passing by daily.
Even with the mail boxes open to all residents (and non-residents) of this building, I haven’t lost a single mail. Nobody cares about our mail and sometimes people are too busy to care about theirs too. By the way, I’ll have to go back down since I forgot to get the two bills inside our mail box.

I used to love living in an apartment. I have had similar experience with mail.

Our metal gate has a mail box but it rarely contains any mail. Mang Romy the postman always calls out so that we get our mail (and the neighbors’ mails too)directly from him.
I would love to have a wooden mailbox like that in the film Il Mare, and get all sort of things through post too. Nowadays I only get bills.

That’s so cool ^^
I agree. Mailboxes are not famous here in the Philippines for that reason which I am not too proud of >_<
Lifestyle in Korea is so different in a good way.

This sounds much like Dallas, Texas! We recently had to replace our condo mailboxes with a high-security cluster box unit due to repeated break-ins. We even made a video about and put it on YouTube - Apartment Mailbox Theft

Cheers!
